Alex Tan, ND - Medical Education Clinical Coordinator
What was your background before coming to IFM?
I trained as a Naturopathic Doctor at Bastyr University. I worked as staff naturopathic primary care doctor at an innovative health start-up in San Francisco called One Medical Group from 2007 until I joined IFM in 2016. I feel passionately about being able to incorporate Functional Medicine in a conventional medicine setting because it's great to have the knowledge, support and skills to address both acute health problems but also chronic-complex conditions. It's very rewarding and people do get better! How would members of the IFM community know you?
I am a Clinical Coordinator in the Medical Education Department. I work with outside experts, our speakers, internal teams, and the literature to come up with content that constitutes the training programs at IFM. What would the IFM community be surprised to learn about you?
I grew up in the Philippines, but also spent part of my childhood in Jamaica. I speak Mandarin and one other Chinese dialect, and Tagalog. This might be surprising—I actually do love the weather in Seattle.
