What was your background before coming to IFM?
Before coming to IFM I worked as an exercise physiologist in medical fitness and wellness. I love exercise as a treatment modality and encourage my patients to treat exercise as medicine… because it is! I completed my doctorate of naturopathic medicine from Bastyr in 2016 while concurrently completing my year-long internship at IFM in the medical education department. How would members of the IFM community know you?
My role at IFM is research-oriented—
providing the medical education teams with current, up-to-date literature on topics related to functional medicine practice. I spend my IFM hours reading through ProQuest and PubMed and translating that information into clinical utility. What would the IFM community be surprised to learn about you?
The IFM community may be surprised to learn that I lived abroad in southern Switzerland for over a year in 2005-2006 and began a career as a fashion merchandiser in Milan, Italy before I began teaching pilates and decided to pursue health care as a career.
