IFM receives donations from individual contributors through its Annual Fund (see side navigation options). Fundraising efforts are directed toward foundations and corporations who are interested in supporting IFM's mission and individual projects. This page provides information on current projects in need of funding, as well as (toward the bottom of the page) specific information about IFM that may be of interest to potential funders. We are grateful for your interest and support!

| Projects To Fund |
Currently, the Institute for Functional Medicine is seeking funding to support the following programs: Functional Medicine Certification Program: $3,000,000 Patients with complex, chronic medical problems need and deserve consistent care delivered by well-trained functional medicine practitioners who will address their health concerns and problems with comprehensive, personalized treatment plans. Certification is necessary to ensure that functional medicine practitioners achieve and maintain a high level of mastery in functional medicine to provide safe and consistent assessment and treatment for patients. Scholarship Program: $500,000 Scholarships for medical school faculty, residents, and medical students to create opportunities to learn about functional medicine as part of medical school programs. Scholarships for nutrition and dietetics faculty, graduate students, and interns that will introduce functional medicine into programs of nutrition and dietetics across the United States.
Publications: $150,000 Placement of Textbook of Functional Medicine and Clinical Nutrition: A Functional Approach texts and instructor guides in libraries and health professions schools and with thought-leaders, policy makers, and healthcare leaders.
Functional Medicine Fellowship Program: $3,000,000 Clinical Practice Centers of Excellence in Functional Medicine. This new model of clinical care and medical practice can make this type of medicine accessible and affordable ~ $1,000,000 Residency programs at Clinical Practice Centers of Excellence in Functional Medicine. These residency programs will create opportunities for medical students and other health professions students to participate in supervised, on-site clinical training in functional medicine ~ $2,000,000 Research: $10,000,000 Functional medicine research projects conducted in collaboration with major universities and research centers are needed to document the efficacy of functional medicine assessment and treatment.

| Information for Prospective Funders |
|
The Institute for Functional Medicine is a nonprofit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) educational organization. A copy of the IRS determination letter is available on request. Other materials that can be provided to prospective funders include: - Current financial reports (balance sheet, income statement, annual budget);
- Faculty CVs for any of the current courses;
- Sample publications;
- Sample course materials;
- Program brochures;
- Letter of inquiry (LOI); and
- Formal grant proposal for any of the projects under discussion.
Prospective funders are welcome to visit the IFM office in Gig Harbor; please call 800-228-0622 to schedule an appointment. We will also arrange for prospective donors to attend a portion of either Symposium or AFMCP to experience the quality of our educational programs.
