Annual Fund
Contributing to IFM’s Annual Fund provides a vital source of support for the Institute, helping to bridge the gap between the income generated from our educational programs and the actual costs of planning, developing and administering these exceptional practitioner training programs.

Changing the healthcare system requires changing healthcare education. Now that the scientific and clinical basis for functional medicine has been documented in our recently released Textbook of Functional Medicine, we must introduce this important text to medical, chiropractic and naturopathic schools.

Currently, the Institute for Functional is seeking funding to support the following programs:

Functional Medicine Certification Program: $3,000,000
Patients with complex, chronic medical problems need and deserve consistent care delivered by well-trained functional medicine practitioners who will address their health concerns and problems with comprehensive, personalized treatment plans. Certification is necessary to ensure that functional medicine practitioners achieve and maintain a high level of mastery in functional medicine to provide safe and consistent assessment and treatment for patients.

Scholarship Program: $500,000
Scholarships for medical school faculty, residents, and medical students to create opportunities to learn about functional medicine as part of medical school programs.

Scholarships for nutrition and dietetics faculty, graduate students, and interns that will introduce functional medicine into programs of nutrition and dietetics across the United States.

Publications: $150,000
Placement of Textbook of Functional Medicine and Clinical Nutrition: A Functional Approach texts and instructor guides in libraries and health professions schools and with thought-leaders, policy makers, and healthcare leaders.

Functional Medicine Fellowship Program: $3,000,000
Clinical Practice Centers of Excellence in Functional Medicine. This new model of clinical care and medical practice can make this type of medicine accessible and affordable ~ $1,000,000.

Residency programs at Clinical Practice Centers of Excellence in Functional Medicine. These residency programs will create opportunities for medical students and other health professions students to participate in supervised, on-site clinical training in functional medicine ~ $2,000,000.

Research: $10,000,000
Functional medicine research projects conducted in collaboration with major universities and research centers are needed to document the efficacy of functional medicine assessment and treatment.
