What is “Professional Membership”?
Professional membership is appropriate primarily for clinicians and scientists whose interest in functional medicine is deeply connected to examining the emerging research, attending CME courses, discussing patients with colleagues, and so forth. What is Dr. Bland’s role at IFM?
Jeffrey Bland, PhD and his wife Susan Bland are the founders of IFM, which was originally a department of their company HealthComm, Inc. In 2000, HealthComm merged with Metagenics, and shortly thereafter IFM became an independent, nonprofit educational organization. The Blands made a gift to IFM of most of the Institute’s assets, so that we could start on our new pathway free of debt. We are very grateful for their initial gift and their ongoing support, as Jeff continues to devote time to IFM for curriculum development and teaching. Susan serves on the Institute’s Board of Directors as Secretary/Treasurer.

Jeff is a presenter in our annual Symposium and our six-day intensive, Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice. These responsibilities are completely separate from his primary position as Chief Science Officer of Metagenics, Inc.
